IM Standards offer a wide range of blank reference materials. Referred to simply as ‘Blanks’, they are used to monitor the smearing of metal concentrations between samples during the sample preparation process.
Why Choose IM Standards Blanks
Range
Our blank reference materials are available in a broad range of commodity types including basalt and granite. We produce materials in a range of particle sizes. Our particle sizes include medium particle sizes (~6mm) and larger particle size material (~20mm). We offer package sizes from 1kg units to 1000kg bulka bags to meet the diverse needs of our customers.
Buy With Confidence
Our blank material undergoes trace-level Au analysis to ensure its purity and suitability for your analytical needs. We use trace-level fire assay to confirm the absence of mineralization, followed by ICP analysis to estimate the concentrations of common base metal elements of interest. This thorough analysis provides our clients with confidence in the results they achieve with our reference materials.
Specialist Products
Our specialist range includes granitic material blank, developed for QC in rare earths and lithium analysis. With an extended suite analysis, PBS-33 allows you to confidently verify the laboratory sample preparation hygiene with appropriate materials.
When to Use
The particle size of the blank material determines at which stage the material is introduced to the sample preparation process:
- Larger particle size material (~20mm) which must include jaw crushing in the sample preparation process and follow the same pathway as your samples all the way through to analysis. Similar to diamond drill core.
- Medium particle size material (~6mm) is introduced to sample preparation process at the pulverisation stage, RC drill samples.
- Pulverised blank material is introduced only at the analysis stage. This allows you to by-pass the sample preparation process and test the analytical.
